Fear Can’t Hold Me

Posted on Updated on

This weeks Poetry Tuesday features an original poem of mine hot off the presses, just written today. It is truly a reflection of where my walk with Christ has been this year. It is inspired by one of, if not my favorite, scripture II Timothy 1:7 Below I have also added a recent picture I did with the scripture. Be blessed my friends.

Fear Can’t Hold Me

Fear can’t hold me down,
I refuse to hide.
Chains won’t keep me bound,
In His word I abide.
Sin has lost its hold,
He has set me free.
God in me has made me bold,
He is always with me.
Loving me beyond compare,
Giving me power and a sound mind.
Leading me daily through prayer,
Out of the box, no longer confined.
Brought to the other side,
A new creation, no longer torn.
The Holy Spirit as my guide,
I’m set free, delivered, reborn.

Coming Home – Prodigal Son

Posted on Updated on

This weeks poem for Poetry Tuesday is an original. I may still make changes. So much of my writing is a work in progress. Enjoy and be blessed my friends.

Coming Home – Prodigal Son

It’s time to come home,
You’ve been gone too long.
Running far and going astray,
Walking in your own way.
He is waiting for your return,
Giving you the time you need to learn.
Waiting, to hold you through your pain
He’s calling, come to me, don’t refrain.
Where have you been my child? I miss you so.
I love you more than you’ll ever know.
I am waiting, here by your side,
I will not forsake you, I haven’t lied.
Come home, my daughter, my son.
Come home to me, your battle is already won.

Dark Night

Posted on Updated on

This week’s feature for Poetry Tuesday is a poem I wrote many years ago. It was during a very hard time in my life, and where I truly was in the middle of a dark time in my life. Since then, God has brought me so far. I was thinking this week of how transparency truly puts an end to darkness. When we are transparent, God’s light shines right through us. His pure light shines the truth into all areas of our lives. If we give it all to Him, then the enemy has no hold on us, and can no longer twist the truth. Hope this poem blesses you and lets you know you are never alone, even in the darkest of nights and times.

DARK NIGHT

Oh! Dark Night!
Shaded moon shadows cast.
Oh! Dark Night!
How long shall you last?
Oh! Dark Night!
In your shadow what lies hidden?
Behind the door is the forbidden.
Oh! Dark Night!
You will not hide from the dawning light,
Oh! Dark Night!
Morning comes and you lose your fight.
Oh! Dark Night!
You come to us all.
Oh! Dark Night!
I choose to refuse your call.

Rise Up

Posted on Updated on

This weeks Poetry Tuesday feature is a song I wrote years ago. But felt it fitting for this season, Not my best work, but like me, is a work in progress. Be blessed my friends.

Rise Up

Rise up Sons and Daughters!
Now is the time!

It’s time to move on
It’s time to walk in his way
It’s time to move on
Today’s a brand new day

Haven’t you heard?
Today is the day!
Didn’t you know?
It’s time to walk in his way!

(Chorus)
Now is the time!
It’s time take our stand.
Now is the time!
Step out, and take his hand
(repeat)

Yes! The battle is over
He’s come here to say
Victory is here
And it is here to stay

Jesus Is Coming!!
He’s on his way
Lift up your voice
Sing and pray!

( Repeat chorus)

Let us move on!
Praise, Dance, and Sing!
It’s time to move on!
So let you voice ring!

Praise Him! Praise Him!
Now let us Praise Him!
Praise Him! Praise Him!

Cause
Now is the time! (x 4)

One Voice! One voice!
Open your mouth, Let you shout ring!
Cry out, dance and sing.

The Path

Posted on Updated on

Since the beginning of the year, God has showed me how he has always had my steps laid out. All I have to do is follow that path.

Today’s featured poem for Poetry Tuesday is about that walk.

The Path

Where is my life going?
I wonder from time to time.
Where is my life going?
I look to Jesus, and to the path that is mine.
Life with purpose, that is the goal.
Peace that passes understanding,
Peace for my soul.
Run the race with patience.
Run the race to win.
He set the course,
I just have to begin.
Step by step, day by day,
Seeking after Him,
Walking in His way.
Waiting for him to speak,
For by the spirit, I am lead
Waiting on Him
And by His word fed,
His time I borrow
For he redeems the time
And I continue on
Walking this path of mine.

Psalms 16:1-11 NKJV
“Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.” As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.” Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor take up their names on my lips. O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance. I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Fate

Posted on Updated on

I love poetry. Whether in a poem or a song, I love lyrics. I have been posting either poems I love, or my own poems on Tuesdays, so I am making it official!

Poetry Tuesdays on My Sound Mind. This week I am featuring a poem that my daughter wrote for a school assignment. Her teacher, (that’s me) loved it and gave her an A+

I love it’s flow and the message is profound. Enjoy!

Fate

Death, pain, suffering,
Fire, brimstone, darkness,
Endless hours, endless days,
This is our cage, this is our fate.

Sin, curses, strongholds,
Demons, monsters, beasts
These are our chains, this is our fate.

Mercy, love, forgiveness,
Holiness, glory, light,
Endless worship, endless praise,
This is our haven, this is our fate.

Repentance, blessings, prayer
Angels, saints, shepherds,
These are our wings, this is our fate.

Salvation from a savior,
Temptations from a captor
This is no longer our fate,
This is our choice.

The Road Less Traveled

Posted on Updated on

Robert Frost inspired this poem of mine as well as knowing that we each have our own path in life. Life is a journey and even though sometimes it can be difficult and lonely, we truly are never alone. Jesus Christ walks with us each day, and there is also comfort in knowing that many of us walk a Road Less Traveled.

The Road Less Traveled

I walk the road less traveled,
My feet trod this road of stone
Although my way may be raveled
I do not walk alone

I’m not sure of the way
But my way is not unknown
He leads me day by day
I do not walk alone

My path is laid straight
I press toward each milestone
I continue along my gait
I do not walk alone
